Picture by Me · Effective 6 August 2026
Picture by Me is a camera app. This policy explains what the app does and does not collect. In short: your photos stay on your phone, and the only thing we receive is anonymous information about how the app is used.
Photos you take are stored on your device, inside the app, until you delete them or save them to your Photos library. They are never uploaded to us, and we have no way to see them.
When you share your camera with a nearby phone, the video travels directly between the two devices over Bluetooth and peer-to-peer Wi-Fi. It does not pass through the internet or any server of ours. A live view is only sent to a viewer you approve, and you can end the session at any time.
To understand how the app is used and where it can be improved, we record anonymous usage events — for example that a photo was taken, that the library was opened, or that a live session was started. These events include:
They never include your photos, the contents of any photo, your name, your email address, your Apple ID, or anything you type into the app. This data is not used to track you across other apps or websites, and it is not sold or shared for advertising.
Usage events are processed on our behalf by PostHog, an analytics provider. You can read their privacy policy at posthog.com/privacy.
Picture by Me is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Deleting the app removes the photos stored inside it and the anonymous identifier used for usage events. If you would like us to delete usage data associated with your device, write to us and we will do so.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
